Calling it a choice between “lesser of two evils”, Pope Francis on Friday, slammed both former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, ahead of the US presidential election.

The Argentine Jesuit was asked to offer guidance to American Catholic voters during a press conference held aboard his flight back to Rome, following his four-nation tour of Asia.

Pope highlighted his concerns about both Trump’s anti-migrant policies and Harris’ support for abortion rights, stating that both stances were “against life.”

“Both are against life, be it the one who kicks out migrants or the one who (supports) killing babies,” Francis said.

“One must choose the lesser of two evils. But who is that? The lady or the gentleman? I don’t know,” Pope remarked urging voters to reflect on the matter carefully and vote according to their conscience.

Festive offer

It’s not the first time Francis has weighed in on a US election. Earlier, during the run up for 2016 election, Pope was questioned about Donald Trump’s proposal to build a wall along the US-Mexican border. At the time, Francis stated that anyone who constructs a wall to block migrants “is not Christian.”
