Amale tiger was killed after being hit by a speeding car on Friday night in Uttarakhand's Jim Corbett National Park. The incident occurred in the Fatehpur forest reserve area of the Park.
As per forest department officials, the tiger was around 12-years-old and the incident occurred near Bhakra Bridge when a speeding Innova car hit the male tiger crossing the road. The collision damaged the car severely as all four airbags of the car were deployed after the crash. Reports said that the driver of the car was drunk.
After the terrible collision, the injured tiger limbed back inside the forest and breathed his last there. It is being said that the tiger weighed around 200 kilograms.
A case of murder is being filed against the driver of the car.
"We received information that a tiger has been hit by a car after which we started a search operation to look for the tiger. We could not find the tiger in evening hence we started searching for him again at 6 am on Saturday after which he was found inside the forest. A post-mortem of the tiger was done and the higher authorities were also informed. After completing all the formalities, the tiger was cremated in the presence of officials and forest personnel," said Khyali Ram, Ranger, Fatehpur Forest Range.
