Marius Borg Hoiby, the 27-year-old son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit, was arrested on Saturday for violating a restraining order from Court, news agency, AFP reported.
Hoiby was detained on August 4 after a late-night altercation with a woman he was in a relationship with. He was accused of assault. Moreover, as per Norwegian media, a knife was found on the wall of woman’s apartment.
Norwegian media reports said police found a knife stuck into one of the walls of the woman’s bedroom at the time.
Following the initial arrest, a restraining order was placed on Hoiby. However, police received information that he had violated the order and re-arrested him due to the “risk of recurrence.”
“At the beginning of September, police received information that Hoiby had, on several occasions, made unwanted contact with the woman, who has the status of victim in the incident,” police stated in a statement as per AFP.
They “filed a report for reckless behaviour and imposed a restraining order on Hoiby”, it said.
Police now suspect Hoiby of additional crimes against three other victims, including domestic abuse and threats.
Hoiby’s lawyer denies all charges, calling the arrest “flimsy.”
