Amassive blaze broke out on Saturday at Navapachchi Village of Marwah valley in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar where one of the civilian homes caught fire. The fire was seen quickly spreading to the top floor and to neighbouring houses.
An Indian Army column immediately raced to the site and began extinguishing the fire with all the available equipment. Local residents and police assisted in the attempts, eventually managing to get the fire under control.
Two houses were badly damaged because of the fire in which the first floor and roof of the houses were completely burnt. The third house was evacuated and there was no loss of life due to the Army's swift action.
The Marwah-Warwan valley remains isolated for six months and has no road, power and communication.
