Former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik has suffered a car crash in Lahore on Sunday. Malik, who is married to Indian tennis superstar Sania Mirza reportedly met with the horrific accident after attending the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) draft event for the sixth edition of the elite T20 tournament at the High-Performance Centre in Lahore. Regarded as one of the finest all-rounders to play white-ball cricket for the Green Army, Malik's luxurious sports car rammed into a truck in Lahore.
Malik, who plied his trade with the Peshawar Zalmi side in the previous edition of the Pakistan Super League graced the gala event as the franchise's representative. Malik met with an accident after the PSL draft event and the front part of his expensive sports car has been completely destroyed.
Talking about the fatal car crash that took place on Sunday night in Lahore, the former Pakistan skipper lost control of his vehicle before colliding 'head-on' with a truck that was parked nearby a local restaurant. The 38-year-old was returning back to his hotel from the Pakistan Super League season six draft event at the time.
According to a report filed by SAMAA TV, it has been learned that Malik tried to overtake Wahab Riaz’s car when he lost control of his fancy sports ride. The report added that Malik tried his best to avoid the accident although his vehicle lost control before crashing into a truck on the sidewalk. Though Malik's car was totaled, the former Pakistani cricketer escaped the crash unhurt.
"I am perfectly all right everybody. It was just a happenstance accident and Almighty has been extremely Benevolent. Thank you to each one of you who've reached out. I am deeply grateful for all the love and care..." ~ Shoaib Malik," the former Pakistani captain said in his tweet.
